NAFSA's Cooperative Grant Program (COOP)

NAFSA: Association of International Educators promotes the exchange of students and scholars to and from the United States . Our members share a belief that international educational exchange advances learning and scholarship, builds respect among different peoples, and encourages constructive leadership in a global community.

The Cooperative Grants Program (Bureau ofEducational & Cultural Affairs of the U. S.Department    of State) funds enrichment programming which encourages interaction and promotes better    understanding between international students, their American peers, faculty, and communities as    well as programming which enhances the experience of American education abroad students.

There are two sub-categories of COOP funding and the Mini Grant. Of the 54 proposals received in 1997-98, 10 were received from community colleges, three of which were funded.

  • Incentive Grant: awards of $1,001, $6,000; annual incentive Grant deadline is  March 1.
  • Mini Grants: awards of $100, $2,000; mini grants are available on a rolling basis and require a five-week turn around period.
